To learn how to apply for a faculty or staff position using the Career worklet, please review this tip sheet .The Surgical Technologist work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that the equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. The CVOR participates in the delivery of patient care by handling instruments during operative Cardiovascular procedures and by performing a variety of duties related to the preparation, processing and arrangement of surgical instruments and equipment.Up to $10,00 Sign on BonusWork Location: UHealth TowerFunctions as a member of the surgical team in the role of the scrub person.The Surgical Technologist in the first scrub role handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.Has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.Has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.Demonstrates advances-level critical thinking and problem solving activitiesDemonstrates superior knowledge of various surgical equipment and advanced surgical instrumentation and modalities.Demonstrates superior knowledge and expert practice in the first scrub role in advanced surgical procedures.Serves as a Surgical Technologist Coordinator as needed.Performs the preceptor role in the training of students and onboarding of new-hires surgical techs.Reviews all operational information related to efficiency and productivity matrices and established targets.(First Case On Time Starts (FCOTS) and Turn Around Time (TAT)).This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.CORE QUALIFICATIONSEducation:High School diploma or equivalentCertification and Licensing:Certification in relevant specialty or fieldBLSExperience:CVOR ExperienceMinimum 1 year of relevant experienceKnowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.Commitment to the University's core values.Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.#LI-CG1The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.UHealth-University of Miami Health System, South Florida's only university-based health system, provides leading-edge patient care powered by the ground breaking research and medical education at the Miller School of Medicine.
