The JHF Assistant Director of Development occupies a pivotal position within the Jackson Health Foundation. Tasked with managing a diverse donor portfolio, their primary objective is to secure and amplify contributions for the annual giving programs. They are adept at articulating the organization's mission, maintaining rigorous documentation of donor interactions, and collaborating with internal teams to optimize philanthropic results. In addition, they serve as a community ambassador for the Foundation, fortifying existing relationships and forging new donor connections. The incumbent may assist and act in a confidential capacity to help manage, formulate, determine and effectuate management process and polices. The incumbent may attend management meetings and may be involved directly or indirectly in the decision making process around confidential management decisions. Position requires exercise of independent judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a portfolio of 100 to 150 donors, aiming to secure gifts of $10,000 and under.
  • Crafts successful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
  • Reaches out to potential donors and articulate the mission and vision of the organization to secure annual and renewable gifts.
  • Adheres diligently to the Foundation's moves management and reporting process on the cultivation and solicitation of donors, ensuring proper documentation of their progress.
  • Effectively engages prospective donors and raises funds for the priority projects of the Jackson Health Foundation and Jackson Health System.
  • Collaborates with colleagues including marketing, operations and other development staff to develop donor-centered strategic plans that result in optimal philanthropic support.
  • Documents donor interactions using Raiser's Edge or equivalent CRM in a timely manner.
  • Conducts timely and effective follow-up to identification, solicitation and cultivation efforts through multiple communication channels.
  • Becomes an ambassador of Jackson Health Foundation in community organizations such as chambers and networking professional groups.
  • Ensures continued engagement with assigned current donors and increased support for the Foundation, working with medical staff, identify and cultivate new donors from grateful patients.
  • Assesses the capacity of donors and prospective donors in order to secure cash gifts and pledges.
  • Becomes aware of planned giving vehicles and able to discuss a planned gift where possible with donors.
  • Strives to be a good colleague and contribute to the successful cultivation of the best gift for the donor and for the Foundation, working cooperatively with all development officers on the staff.
  • Retains the flexibility to adjust work schedules, including occasional evenings and weekends.Experience
    • Generally requires 3-5 years of work experience, ideally in fundraising, with a proven track record in gift solicitation.
    • Prior experience in a hospital or academic medical center environment is advantageous.
    • Prior experience with Raiser's Edge or equivalent CRM is highly preferredEducation
      • Bachelor's degree is required.Credentials
